I found this in the Everybody Votes Channel of my Wii. What worried me was that over 40% of the respondents aren’t doing something about a very real threat.
According to Helsingin Sanomat, climate change is definitely taking its toll. This winter has been between 4.5 to 6 °C warmer than the historical average.
No wonder I still haven't used my proper winter coat (nicknamed the bear for a reason) very much so far. This weekend it's been snowing, so I hope it improves, as I didn't move back from Belgium to have the same weather again ;-).
Even though the sea is starting to get frozen, the fact is that proper winter as known in this latitudes has been lacking. Snow has been rather sporadic and not permanent, and we’ve been hovering between +3 & -3°C for a month now.
This autumn has been unseasonably warm and rainy here in Southern Finland (we're still above freezing point). According to this story published in Helsingin Sanomat, it's only going to get worse in the coming years.
I want some snow!
As mentioned last year, the weather is really going crazy. Mexico City is having sub-zero temperatures in the morning with possibility of snow (it's actually colder there than in Helsinki in the morning, even though by noon the thermometer reaches 15°C).
Hope it gets better by Christmas when I'm there, but of course that's not probable.
During the whole day I heard some strange noises coming from the street, but funnily enough no rain. I didn’t go out as I’ve been studying for exams. Now I found out that there was a storm in Northern Europe. Two persons died in Belgium.
Thanks to ceronne and Rafael Peñaloza for the hint.
In case it wasn’t obvious, it was a record-breaking warm month of December in Finland.
Hell froze over when Lordi won Eurovision, so probably all the heat is now above-ground 😉
